Memory is tight (Mac)

Document ID: 1267HQ

ISSUE:

Eudora (Mac) gives me the error message that, Memory is Tight or There is insufficient memory to expand the nickname.

SOLUTION:

This alert message means that Eudora is dangerously close to the memory limits allowed for the application. You can either raise the memory allocation for Eudora, or clear out your In, Out, and Trash mailboxes so that the program takes up less memory.

To raise Eudora's memory allocation, do the following:

  1. Exit Eudora.

  2. In the Finder, locate the Eudora application.

  3. Highlight the Eudora application icon.

  4. Open the File menu and choose Get Info: Memory. In this window, three settings for Memory Requirements: Suggested size, Minimum size, and Preferred size are displayed.

  5. Raise the settings for both the Minimum and Preferred size.

  6. Restart Eudora.
